The Grant Township Planning Commission on Sept. 19, 2024 voted unanimously to approve Ordinance Amendment 2024-004, a rewrite intended to clarify a section removed from the 2008 ordinance and to designate where outdoor recreational entertainment facilities may locate.
Chair Brian Heminger opened the public hearing on the amendment at 7:08 p.m. Commissioners asked questions and provided answers during the hearing; no members of the public registered objections. Laura Rodriguez moved to accept the amendment; Mike Bouwkamp seconded the motion, and “all were in favor.” The commission recorded the motion as carried and recommended the amendment to the Township Board for approval. Tim Martis moved to close the hearing at 7:14 p.m.; Laura Rodriguez seconded and the hearing was closed unanimously.
The minutes state: “This amendment was approved to protect the township by assigning a place for Outdoor Recreational Entertainment facilities.” The commission did not record any votes against the measure; the motion and closure were entered in the meeting minutes as unanimous among the five members present.
The amendment will be forwarded to the Township Board for its consideration; the Planning Commission took no additional final action on other ordinance language at the Sept. 19 meeting.
