Yamhill County continues hearing on allowing transportation facilities across zoning districts to June 18

During deliberations on Docket G-01-22 at the June 4 meeting, the Board of Commissioners reviewed a Planning Commission recommendation to add "roads, highways and other transportation facilities and improvements" as permitted uses in several zoning districts and as conditional uses in others.
Commissioner Mary Starrett explained a written definition she provided that clarifies what uses would be allowed under the proposed change. Commissioner Kit Johnston said he preferred that all such uses be treated as conditional rather than permitting some outright. County planning staff were directed to draft an ordinance consistent with the Board’s direction and to reconvene the public hearing on June 18, 2026 to allow additional review.
The docket would apply to multiple zoning districts named in the Planning Commission recommendation, including Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PRO), a set of Rural Residential districts, Commercial and Industrial districts, Public Works/Safety and Public Airports/Landing Fields districts. The public hearing was previously tabled on June 22, 2023 and was continued from May 7, 2026 at the point of deliberations.
