The Yamhill County Board of Commissioners on May 28, 2026, held a continued public hearing (Docket FD-01-26) on an appeal of the Planning Director's approval for a principal dwelling provided in conjunction with farm use. Staff recommended approval and explained the eligibility criteria.
Ken Friday (staff) told the board that a dwelling provided in conjunction with farm use is permitted in the farm zone. For a property with non-high-value soils, the county requires evidence that the farm produces $40,000 per year in sales; Friday said the applicant, Mr. Marcham, had supplied that evidence. Tiffinie Willis noted that Fire Department approval of the driveway had been provided as part of the application but was not required to be in the hearing packet.
Commissioner Mary Starrett said the criteria required to approve the application had been met and moved to uphold the Planning Director's decision. The motion passed unanimously. The minutes state a Board Order and findings will be scheduled for consideration of approval no later than June 18, 2026.
This action affirms the Planning Director's earlier approval; the board did not remand the matter or add conditions in the minutes.
