At its Oct. 7 meeting, the Lincoln Village Council approved routine minutes, the treasurer's report (subject to audit) and bills for payment, and heard a series of community announcements and departmental reports.
Wendy Bain, executive director of ACCOA, invited residents to an Oct. 20 open house from noon to 5 p.m. and discussed a mileage renewal to appear on the Nov. 5 ballot; she handed out flyers to the council. The Planning Commission and council members outlined plans for a Christmas Crawl on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 4–7 p.m., with a 6 p.m. tree and town lighting and activities such as cookie decorating and a possible Santa appearance.
President Phillips announced the Chili Cook-off and Truck-or-Trunk event along Second Street on Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and said Trick-or-Treat hours were set for a Thursday in October from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.; the transcript does not specify the exact date for Trick-or-Treat.
Resident Chris Scully raised a question about curbing in the village. President Phillips said the village is handicapped-compliant with the State of Michigan and noted a small ramp with a handrail installed in the Post Office parking lot to assist those who need help.
Public-works and public-safety updates: Gary Graves reported that parking lots at the Post Office and Village Hall were resealed and line repainting is planned; roads have received new lines and crosswalks will be painted soon. Lornie White said sewer operations are "going fairly well." Fire Chief (or department representative) Nate Walker reported two fire calls and 12 medical calls in the past month, thanked council members for help with a cookout for Mike Serafin, and said two newer firefighters will attend fire academy training in Alpena through May 2025.
The meeting ended after a motion to adjourn from Brett Wambold with support from Dorene Schick.
