Thea McCurdy of 1701 Yale Avenue asked the Butte-Silver Bow Council to address ongoing nuisance animal noises and urged improvements to the municipality’s animal ordinance with an emphasis on nuisance dog barking.
Her request was filed as Communication No. 2026-278. Council member Hattie Thatcher moved to refer the item to Animal Services and to hold it in the Committee of the Whole; Michele Shea seconded the motion and the council approved it 9–0.
Why it matters: Nuisance-animal complaints affect quality of life for neighbors and can prompt ordinance changes that modify enforcement thresholds, penalties, or allowable animal conditions in residential neighborhoods. Referral to Animal Services initiates staff review and potential ordinance revisions or recommended policy changes.
What happens next: Animal Services will review the concerns and report back to the council or committee with recommended code changes or enforcement clarifications.
