President John L. Turner called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. in St. Joseph. The board recorded a quorum, with Jennifer Burnside, George Matthews, Annice Miller and Esaw Turner present; Knola Ransome and Joseph Tarver were absent. Superintendent Joyce M. Russ led the Pledge of Allegiance.
On motions reflected in the minutes, board member George Matthews moved to approve the minutes from the Sept. 11, 2025, meeting; Turner seconded and the motion passed. Matthews also moved approval of the 2023-2024 school audit report; Annice Miller seconded and the board approved the audit.
The board received the September financial statement and a budget-to-actual update after a motion by Annice Miller, seconded by John L. Turner. The minutes do not record a roll-call vote or a tally for that receipt.
In facilities business, the board approved hiring Natchez Heating & Cooling to complete plumbing work at Tensas Elementary for $27,000 (motion by George Matthews; seconded by John L. Turner). The board also adopted an updated Tensas Parish Family Engagement Policy (motion by Annice Miller; seconded by John L. Turner).
The board approved issuing fall sales-tax checks for all full-time employees to be distributed Nov. 21, 2025 (motion by George Matthews; seconded by John L. Turner). The minutes do not specify funding sources for the checks beyond the general payroll/benefits context.
Superintendent Joyce M. Russ announced fall break will be Oct. 10-13 and that students will also be out Oct. 14 while staff take professional development. She also noted that junior-high basketball was scheduled that night in Crowville and that Homecoming is set for Nov. 21.
With no additional business, President Turner moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Annice Miller and the meeting was adjourned.
