Lincoln Village Council approves routine business, eyes small downtown grant

The Lincoln Village Council on Sept. 4 approved routine business and voted to submit a grant application for the Sunrise Gardening Club that could provide up to $1,000 for adding flowers downtown.
On motions recorded in the meeting minutes, the council approved the August minutes on a motion from Council Member Durham with support from Council Member Wambold; it approved the treasurer’s report subject to audit on a motion from Council Member Gauthier with support from Council Member Schick; and it approved payment of bills on a motion from Wambold with support from Gauthier.
Council later approved a motion, moved by Durham and supported by Wambold, to send in a grant form for the Sunrise Gardening Club; meeting minutes indicate the grant could provide “possibly up to $1,000” for downtown flowers but do not commit village funds beyond submitting the application.
The meeting included routine departmental reports. Nate Walker delivered the fire department report, noting the department participated in the Labor Day parade, that there were 14 medical runs and no fire runs in the past month, and he thanked Raleigh Potts and Mike Basner for parade assistance. Gary Graves reported maintenance preparations for winter and plans to install a fence beside the pavilion to enclose the tots play area. Lornie White reported that sewer operations are going well. President Phillips reported on a meeting with Chris from Fleis and Vandenbrink about potential grant-funded projects.
The meeting adjourned on a motion by Council Member Gauthier with support from Council Member Schick; the motion carried and Clerk Linda K. Somers recorded the minutes.
