Hebron council highlights West Licking Fire District levy open house, urges residents to attend

Chief Fiscal Officer Deborah Morgan said the district is seeking a replacement levy to bring its revenue stream to "today's valuation," and Councilmember Andrea Chapman described West Licking as one of the highest-paid fire districts in the area.
Mayor Valerie Mockus said the West Licking Fire District runs calls into Columbus and competes with the city for staff, citing delayed responses in other areas she'd heard about. Mockus emphasized that the village currently enjoys strong coverage because West Licking staffs five personnel on duty at all times and provides training and equipment shared across neighboring jurisdictions.
No formal action or vote on the levy occurred at the Hebron meeting. The council did not endorse or oppose the measure; instead members relayed the open-house details and encouraged community participation. The open house is scheduled for the Hebron firehouse from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on the date announced by the fire district.
The council adjourned at 6:16 p.m. after a unanimous roll call vote.
