Council asks staff for cost estimate before deciding whether Linden will be fiduciary for Shiawassee River MDNR grant

Gildner said public funds can be used for a public purpose and clarified legal limits; councilors asked staff to provide additional information about the geographic boundaries of the coalition and to estimate staff time.
City Manager Ellen Glass said she would discuss the grant27s administrative rules with Lossing and bring back an estimate of administrative-cost impact and a project list for possible city involvement. A member of the public asked whether projects in the Mill area could be presented for possible grant funding.
The council did not adopt a motion to be fiduciary at the Aug. 26 meeting; rather, it requested staff provide more detailed cost and scope information to allow a future decision.
