Harvard School Committee appoints Molly Superchi as assistant superintendent

The committee approved a three-year contract with a $165,000 starting salary, effective July 1.
Superchi, who has more than two decades in public education and ten years in central office roles, described experience in early literacy development and in building secondary pathways in biomedical and career and technical education. Committee members asked about community engagement strategies and challenges in smaller districts; Superchi described outreach examples and data-analysis approaches she would bring to the role.
Chair Abigail Besse moved the appointment; Liz Joyce seconded. The motion passed by roll call vote, 5-0. Members congratulated Superchi and said they expect her to complement Mr. Labb's leadership.
The committee did not discuss salary details beyond the starting figure in the approval motion. Superchi's hiring follows a district-backed search process the committee described as comprehensive; the committee will welcome her at the start of the new fiscal year on July 1.
