Harvard advances MSBA HVAC/roof study; design contract negotiated within town-approved funds

Superintendent Dr. Linda Dwight told the School Committee on Feb. 9 that the district's HVAC and roofing study is moving forward under the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) process with GreenerU designated as the Owner’s Project Manager and IMEG Consultants Corp. engaged for engineering work.
Dr. Dwight told the committee the overall project is "likely to be more than $5 million," and that the team negotiated a $15,000 design contract that falls within the $200,000 the town approved for this stage of work. Mandy Ostaszewski said the design contract timeline is about six weeks and that the team hopes to finalize the design contract by the last week of February.
Committee members discussed next steps: Ms. Besse said the item will be placed on a future agenda and that the committee may vote to submit the contract cost to the MSBA. The administration said GreenerU will guide the district through contract negotiations with IMEG and the next phases of the study.
The committee also discussed procurement steps for a separate accessibility/back-steps replacement bid at Bromfield; four vendors attended a mandatory walkthrough and bids are due this week. The administration said the accessibility work was separated from the back-steps bid to improve bid viability.
The committee requested that contract documents and the proposed MSBA submission appear on a future agenda for formal consideration and potential vote.
