Luna Pier council conditionally approves draft MDOT bridge maintenance agreement

At its Sept. 26 meeting, the Luna Pier City Council approved a draft maintenance agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation for the city’s bridge, contingent on MDOT’s internal review.
Councilmember Neil Wakeman moved to approve the MDOT Bridge Maintenance Agreement as presented, and Councilmember Dawn Gramza supported the motion. The motion carried on roll call vote with all members in favor. Councilmember Marc Donnelly had earlier said bridge walkway plans would need to be reviewed before signing any MDOT agreement.
Earlier in the meeting the council also approved the consent agenda and passed Bills Warrant #14195 (paid) for $14,443.89, Bills Warrant #14196 (unpaid) for $15,647.13 and a Visa bill for $662.62; those motions passed on roll call vote, all in favor. The council adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
Council members said the MDOT agreement approval was conditional: if MDOT’s internal review changes the draft, the council reserved the right to revisit the document before final execution.
