Luther reopens cemetery entrance, extends leases and moves toward finalizing Fairbanks property deed

The council voted to reopen the Ash entrance to the cemetery, extended annual leases to Oct. 1 while lease language is updated, and reported that the quitclaim deed for the Fairbanks property has been returned and will be notarized.
At its Aug. 13 meeting the Village of Luther took several operational steps: reopening a cemetery entrance, extending leases pending review and reporting progress on a property deed.
President Andy Treiber said the cemetery entrance off Ash was closed and DPW believed it could be reopened. Connie Holmes moved to reopen the Ash entrance; the council voted in favor.
On leases, Treiber told the board that annual lease agreements needed review before renewal. Tiffany Clark moved to extend current leases until Oct. 1 while updated agreements are prepared; the motion passed with Connie Holmes abstaining.
Treiber also reported the lawyer returned the quitclaim deed for the Fairbanks property and that James Bacon was arranging a time with the seller and a village representative to have the deed notarized and complete the transfer.
The meeting included DPW and committee updates: storm-drain repairs and tree/guardrail work were planned as mowing slows; the fire board reported delivery and training on a Stryker Lucas unit; community events and committee meeting dates were announced.
