Luna Pier council approves bills, renews two memberships and OKs holiday event permit

Mayor James Gardner called the Luna Pier City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. on July 11 and the council approved a set of routine items, including two bills warrants and membership renewals.
The council voted to approve Bill’s Warrant #14187 (paid) for $22,270.71 and Bill’s Warrant #14188 (unpaid) for $16,198.51 after waiving the reading. Neil Wakeman moved the motion to approve the warrants, and Marc Donnelly seconded; the motions carried on roll call votes described in the minutes as "all in favor." One councilmember, Dawn Gramza, was recorded as excused.
Council members also approved a special-event application from Parks & Recreation and the Fire Department for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Visit from Santa on Dec. 7, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with fees waived. Diana Szkatulski moved the event permit approval, and Amanda Neiding supported the motion; council minutes state the motion carried on a roll call vote, all in favor.
The council approved membership renewals for the Michigan Municipal League for $1,335.00 (motion by Wakeman, supported by Neiding) and for the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) for $924.00 (motion by Wakeman, supported by Szkatulski). Both motions carried on roll call votes, unanimously among members present.
The agenda also recorded department reports, including a Police Department blight report (June 26, 2024) and a Building Department monthly permit list for June 2024. Council set future meeting dates for Parks & Recreation, DDA, FEP, Planning and City Council and adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
Meetings and motions were recorded in the city clerk’s minutes and the council’s minutes state that all listed votes were carried "all in favor."
