Hoosac Valley Regional outlines new professional-development approach for 2025–26

Hoosac Valley Regional administrators presented a district professional-development summary and proposed structure for 2025–26, emphasizing data-driven decision-making, teacher collaboration and multiple delivery formats.
Kristen (district P.D. lead) described a plan that will use MCAS and benchmark data, classroom observations and teacher input to target training. The plan proposes a P.D. committee to design and modify annual offerings aligned to district and school improvement plans and certification needs.
P.D. delivery will include summer workshops for skill building, scheduled district P.D. days, job-embedded coaching and collaborative planning time. Funding sources identified include ESSER and Title I/II funds, the district P.D. budget, grants and partnerships.
Committee members asked whether professional development includes supports for teachers’ social-emotional needs and whether there is sufficient time for meaningful training. Kristen said the district tried multiple approaches (including optional activities such as yoga) but has not yet found a single strategy that fits all staff needs.
Administrators said the plan will track impact through pre/post surveys, classroom walkthroughs, teacher reflections and student-performance outcomes. The committee did not take formal action on the P.D. plan at the meeting; materials were distributed as an attached PowerPoint.
