Superintendent Julie Hamilton told the Holbrook School Committee Aug. 21 that district administrators are finalizing personnel hires and program planning ahead of the school year and that district leaders have begun discussions with Quincy College about DESE designation for college-credit courses for upperclass students.
Hamilton said the district hired Jonathan Winkler as assistant principal at Holbrook Middle-High School and announced several other staff additions in special education and elementary grades. The committee recorded a retirement notice for Marie Moriarty, Guidance Secretary, effective Sept. 30, 2025, and a resignation for Kristen Foley, Special Education and Pupil Personnel Administrative Assistant, effective Aug. 1, 2025.
Holbrook Middle-High School Principal Jennifer Bates presented a list of updates to the HMHS handbook; the committee approved those handbook changes by a recorded vote of 5-0-0. Special Education Director Rob Compton recommended clarifying language for Policy EEAA (Walkers and Riders) to reduce ambiguity; mileage policy was not changed.
The committee accepted in-kind donations from Fred White consisting of four 55-inch televisions (estimated value $1,200), four TV mounts (estimated value $800), copy paper (estimated value $600) and binders (estimated value $200); the donation was approved 5-0-0. The committee also voted to move the Sept. 18 meeting to Sept. 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
The meeting packet included financial reports showing the FY25 operating year closed with a zero balance. Minutes from the June 12, 2025 meeting were tabled until the next meeting.
