Hinsdale hears road, bridge and ambulance-service planning; New Windsor Road reconstruction estimated at $1.78 million

During the Select Board’s Communications & Reports segment on Jan. 28, Town Administrator Bob Graves told the board that reconstructing New Windsor Road (excluding a major culvert repair) is estimated at $1,777,098. Graves said the work will need to be completed in phases, that Foresight Land Services is splitting the project into two parts, and that the town will pursue a MassWorks grant to fund phase I this spring although he cautioned the town may need multiple attempts because competition for the grants is high.
Graves also reported that Massachusetts Department of Transportation Division I Director Francisca Hemming called that morning to inform him that MA-DOT will fast-track repairs to the Windsor Brook Bridge at MA-DOT’s expense; Graves said the project will begin this summer and thanked Hemming.
Separately, Graves said Heather Brown requested to appear at the Feb. 11 Select Board meeting to ask the board’s help forming a committee to explore the town’s future ambulance-service needs. Select Board member Ray Huntoon suggested contacting a Lanesborough resident who led a similar local effort to share information with any newly formed committee.
Finance Committee Chair Shaun Galliher said he had met with Central Berkshire Regional High School Superintendent Michael Henault and that Henault will attend the Finance Committee meeting on Feb. 5, 2026. No additional funding actions or formal motions related to these reports were recorded in the minutes.
