Bancroft council approves $16,828 insurance payment, sets trick-or-treat hours and signs off routine bills

The Village of Bancroft Council on Oct. 10 approved payment of a $16,828 MML Liability Property Pool invoice, set Halloween trick-or-treat hours and completed routine business at a regular session held at Bancroft Community Hall.
Council member L. Fall moved to accept the MML Liability Property Pool invoice for $16,828.00; the motion, supported by B. Monroe, was recorded in the minutes as passing on a roll-call vote with Simpson, Fall, B. Monroe, E. Labadie, H. Boggetta and B. Barnum voting yes. The minutes list the payment as an accepted expense for the village.
The council also set trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. and approved allowing nonprofit organizations to use the community hall for handing out candy and related activities. That motion, moved by H. Boggetta and supported by L. Fall, was recorded as carried with all yeas.
In routine financial business the council approved the Sept. 11 meeting minutes, accepted the September bills and approved payment of Byers Electric invoice #9956196 for $1,015.71. The minutes record roll-call votes for the Byers Electric payment and for acceptance of the treasurer's report; those motions were recorded as passed. The recorded roll-call listings in the minutes are cited as the official record of each vote.
A DPW staff member identified in the minutes as Brian reported it had been a busy month, noted a recent water break and said he and Josh will review the village tree list; he also announced that water hydrants will be flushed on Oct. 19, 2024. Officer Mark Schmitzer presented the police report (the minutes do not provide further detail on calls or incidents).
On old business, village hall roof repairs, maintenance to the Well 5 building and pending tree work remain unresolved; the minutes say the council is waiting on Tim and that a special meeting may be scheduled to address those items.
