The Loose Board of Directors voted unanimously Sept. 23 to adopt a formal holiday-closure schedule for the Loose Senior Center.
Director of Senior Services Tessa Sweeney reviewed a 2013 policy change and said Genesee County has approved the center’s holiday closures; Board President Danielle Cusson accepted the update and the Board discussed aligning Loose’s schedule with City Hall. Ray Culbert moved to approve the list and Pamela Howd seconded; the motion carried 7-0.
The approved schedule lists the following closures: Martin Luther King Day; President’s Day; Good Friday; Memorial Day; Juneteenth; Independence Day; the Friday before Labor Day; Labor Day; Veterans Day; Thanksgiving Day; the Friday after Thanksgiving; and Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day. Board members discussed whether Election Day should be added in the future and asked staff to work with City Hall on any potential alignment of holiday calendars.
Board members cited service continuity and consistency with county and bank observances as reasons for formalizing the schedule. The action was procedural and did not change staffing terms beyond reflecting the closures in the meeting minutes. No public comments were received on the item.
The Board moved on to department updates after approving the closures.
