Luther trustees clear way for tree lighting, silent auction and other community events; vacancy to remain open until December

Trustee Michelle Goodman reported that the Community Improvement Committee will hold the village tree lighting on Nov. 30 and asked for use of the hall for a silent auction during the event. Trustee Brittany Carlson moved to allow the CIC to use the hall for the silent auction; Trustee James Bacon seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote.
Goodman also said a soup supper and community caroling are planned and that details will be addressed at the December meeting. Trustee Felicia Wert described a Secret Santa shop to be held at the library, stating that all funds raised will be donated to the library's summer reading program. President Andy Treiber asked whether the CIC needed DPW support for the event and noted fire pits and picnic tables will be set out for the tree lighting.
On elections, President Treiber said the village has a partial-term trustee vacancy and recommended waiting until the December meeting to accept letters of interest so residents have time to apply. Earlier in the meeting, Clerk Carrie Fansler had flagged MML training opportunities for newly elected or current officials, and Trustee Brittany Carlson noted videos are available on the MML website; the transcript does not expand the MML acronym.
