Luther trustees authorize ARPA grant application for park work, award $30,000 bridge repair contract and appoint Connie Holmes

At its Dec. 10 meeting the Village of Luther board authorized the Community Improvement Committee to pursue a county ARPA grant and approved a bridge repair contract with Johnson Construction for $30,000.
Trustee Michelle Goodman said she and Trustee Tiffany Clark will meet with county staff to reapply for a county ARPA grant and described proposed park improvements including resurfacing the tennis court (quote from AJ Holmes for $8,500), two bike racks, two grills, a seesaw, a small basketball hoop and a music garden. Goodman estimated the total park package at about $15,000 and said the village’s share would be roughly $7,500. Trustee James Bacon moved to allow the CIC to proceed with the grant application and to cap the village’s contribution at no more than $10,000; the board voted in favor.
President Andy Treiber updated trustees on a separate bridge repair and Trustee Tiffany Clark moved to enter a contract with Johnson Construction for the bridge repair at $30,000; Trustee Michelle Goodman seconded and the board approved the contract (roll-call recorded Yes: Rose Wetherall, Michelle Goodman, Tiffany Clark, Brittany Carlson, James Bacon, Andy Treiber).
The board also dealt with other operational matters: Clerk Carrie Fansler reported an unresolved porta-potty pickup/invoice matter with vendor ACE 1, and trustees approved continuing the Brooks Elite Contracting agreement at a $10 increase to $129 per service. Trustee Brittany Carlson moved to appoint Connie Holmes to the open two-year trustee seat; Trustee Tiffany Clark seconded and the appointment was recorded as carried "All in Favor."
