Holbrook School Committee approves donations, authorizes student trip pending paperwork and names superintendent to regional board

Holbrook — The Holbrook School Committee on Sept. 25 approved donations of two drum sets (estimated value $3,500) from Joseph Jackman and a $2,000 contribution from committee member Fred White, authorized a Student Television Network trip to Tampa Bay, Fla., pending submission of missing trip documentation, and appointed Superintendent Julie Hamilton to serve as the district's representative on the North River Collaborative board.
The actions came during a regularly scheduled meeting at Holbrook Middle-High School. The donation motions were made by School Committee Secretary Fred White and seconded by Vice Chair Renee Malvesti; both measures passed 4-0-0, with Mr. C. White noted as not in attendance. Malvesti moved approval of the $2,000 donation from Fred White; the motion passed 4-0-0. The committee recorded the donations in the minutes and expressed appreciation for the contributors.
The committee also approved an out-of-state field trip request for the Student Television Network convention in Tampa Bay, scheduled Feb. 27–March 4, 2026, contingent on the district receiving the remaining required information on the trip form prior to departure. The trip motion was made by Fred White and seconded by Renee Malvesti and carried 4-0-0.
In other business the committee voted unanimously to appoint Superintendent Julie Hamilton as Holbrook Public Schools' appointed representative on the North River Collaborative board of directors, as specified in the district's agreement with the collaborative. The committee also ratified its MASC delegation nominations, approving Barbara Davis as the official delegate and Fred White as alternate delegate by recorded 4-0-0 votes.
The committee approved minutes from June 12 and Aug. 21, 2025, by unanimous vote and adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
What happens next: the Student Television Network trip approval remains contingent on the district receiving the outstanding trip documentation; the awards and donations will be processed by district business staff and reflected in school accounts.
