NECCOG approves Paramedic Intercept study consultant and maintains $10 dispatch fee

NECCOG members selected a consultant to assist with a Paramedic Intercept study and voted to maintain a $10 dispatch fee after presentations by ambulance providers; an RFP for a consultant had a July 11 deadline.
NECCOG moved forward on several emergency medical service items in 2013. On Aug. 30 the council accepted a proposal from Page, Wolfberg & Wirth to assist with the Paramedic Intercept study (motion by Mr. Tanner, second by Mr. Fletcher), approving the consultant selection unanimously.
Earlier, the council formed a Paramedic Study Committee and released an RFP with a July 11 deadline to identify a qualified consultant to assist the study. Executive Director John Filchak and committee members reported the group had held an initial meeting and drafted the RFP.
On Sept. 27 the council heard brief presentations from Greg Alllard (American Ambulance) and Jeffery Otto (QVEC) on the Paramedic Intercept Program dispatch fee and then voted unanimously to maintain the $10 dispatch fee. The minutes show the vote followed member questions and discussion.
Members described these actions as study and maintenance steps rather than a final change to service models; additional implementation would depend on the consultant’s recommendations and subsequent council direction.
