Reed City Council accepts audit, approves $3.15 million in payments and several finance actions

At its Dec. 9 meeting, the Reed City Council approved multiple finance and procurement actions that officials said maintain routine operations and address capital needs. The council approved paying bills totaling $3,148,137.55 (motion by Nicole Woodside, seconded by Brad Nixon), accepted the city's 2023–2024 audit after a positive presentation by Doug Vredeveld (motion by Trevor Guiles, seconded by Dan Burchett), and accepted Change Order 85540-3 from Gerber Construction reducing a FY23 contract price by $80,039.75 (motion by Guiles, seconded by Nate Bailey).
Council also authorized staff to change credit-card and ACH processing to BS&A and allowed the city manager to execute related documents. For the wastewater treatment plant, council approved quote #Q54354 from JGM Valve for $11,700 to purchase a Vaughn Model HE6U8CS-115 sludge pump (motion by Guiles, seconded by Bailey). The actions passed by roll call where recorded; the bills and audit approvals were unanimous among members present.
During the audit presentation Doug Vredeveld described the 2023–2024 audit as positive and the council publicly recognized Treasurer Kadee Kidd for her work. A proposed rental-inspection ordinance was discussed but tabled until staff can provide additional information.
The consent agenda was approved and the manager's report noted ongoing community improvements, including the successful Evergreen Festival and DPW contributions.
