Recreation Services Manager Mark Thompson explained the request, saying event activities will end at 10 p.m. but staff would remain in the parks until 11 p.m. to ensure a “safe and orderly disbandment of the events.” Thompson framed the extension as a routine, pragmatic exception to the ordinance that sets park closing at 10 p.m.
Alderman Wells moved to approve the two dates and rain dates; Eric Huemer seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously in favor.
