Gates Town Board approves routine permits, contracts and grant support resolutions

The Gates Town Board on June 1 approved a slate of routine items and resolutions including permit renewals, contract authorizations and two grant application support resolutions.
The board accepted the 2025 year‑end reports for Town Justices Pupatelli and Cassara (RESOLUTION 102‑26) and approved renewal of Conditional Use Permits on mass for Byrne Dairy & Deli (465 Spencerport Rd.), Laser Car Wash (3565 Buffalo Rd.), MFA Auto (2800 Manitou Rd.), Open Door Mission (240 Coldwater Rd.), Panera Bread (1502 Howard Rd.) and Papa John’s Pizza (24 Hinchey Rd.) (RESOLUTION 103‑26).
Other approvals included waiving special event permit fees for the Joe Manuse Foundation fundraiser (June 20) and the Villavallelonga Roc Picnic (July 12) (RESOLUTIONS 104‑26 and 105‑26), a five‑year lease for a Pitney Bowes postage machine (RESOLUTION 106‑26), and supervisor authorization to extend the Gates Public Library lease with Gallina Development Inc. for seven years (RESOLUTION 107‑26). The board accepted a vendor contract with Rochester Emergency Veterinary Services for dog‑related matters (RESOLUTION 108‑26) and certified Atlantic‑Inland, Inc. as an electrical inspection agency for the town (RESOLUTION 109‑26).
The board unanimously adopted a SEQRA Type II declaration and a resolution supporting the Town’s NY PLAYS grant application to build a new inclusive playground off Wegman Rd., committing more than the program’s 20% local match and authorizing the Supervisor to execute application materials if the award is made (RESOLUTION 110‑26). The board also approved a SEQRA Type II declaration and a resolution supporting the Town’s application to the NYS Department of State "Community Resilience & Flood Risk Reduction" grant program to study Ford Ave. and First St. flooding (RESOLUTIONS 111‑26 and 112‑26).
The meeting also included reappointments: Joe Argenta was reappointed as an alternate member of the Planning Board for a term ending June 7, 2031 (RESOLUTION 113‑26) and Abramo Bianchi was reappointed to the Recreation and Parks Commission through June 5, 2031 (RESOLUTION 114‑26). The Board accepted the Supervisor’s and Town Clerk’s reports for May 2026 (RESOLUTIONS 115‑26 and 116‑26) and adjourned at 8:45 PM.
"We already have people lined up for the parade," Supervisor Cosmo A. Giunta said when announcing the town's upcoming 250th Anniversary celebration on June 27, a separate announcement during the meeting.
