Park board updates: Highland Village concerns, Sunset Park shelter installation and RCO grant timelines

On Sunset Park, staff reported a new picnic shelter is in the process of installation; the installer hoped to complete the project the week following the Aug. 8 photos, and a final walk-through was scheduled for Sept. 18, 2024.
Kennedy also reviewed RCO grant-related items listed in the minutes: Community Outdoor Athletic Facilities (COAF) and an AHRC ballfield & parking expansion are on the initial grants list with awards noted as Oct. 15; Local Parks projects (including Sunset Park pathway renovation and electrical additions) are listed for consideration; the minutes state RCO approves preliminary ranked lists on Oct. 29-30. The minutes present these dates as staff timelines; no formal board action or funding decisions were recorded at the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Board Member Gregory Webb, seconded by Board Member Lori Wood; the meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
