The Roseville Community Schools Board of Education on Sept. 8 unanimously approved multiple administrative and operational measures, including a batch of new hires and reclassifications, ratification of a lunchroom supervisors’ collective-bargaining agreement, and funding to replace inoperable security cameras.
President Theresa Genest convened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the district Administration Building. After approving the Aug. 18, 2025 minutes on a motion by Vice President Kevin Switanowski seconded by Trustee Gina Aiuto, the board moved into business items that included staffing, contracts and facilities use.
The board accepted the personnel recommendations as presented. Secretary Joseph D. DeFelice moved to approve the slate, Trustee Denise Brun supported the motion, and the vote was 7-0 in favor. The personnel list included multiple classroom teachers, special education aides, a bus driver and other support staff; the minutes list 14 new hires, two reclassifications, two rehires, two retirements and four resignations as part of the personnel report.
On collective bargaining, Vice President Kevin Switanowski moved and Trustee Michelle Williams-Ward supported ratification of the contract for AFSME Council 25 Local 1103 that covers lunchroom supervisors; the board approved the ratification unanimously. The minutes do not specify contract financial terms or the contract’s effective dates beyond the ratification action.
The board also authorized purchase of replacement cameras for district-wide inoperable units, directing use of general funds. Secretary Joseph D. DeFelice made the motion, Treasurer Matthew McCartney seconded, and the motion carried 7-0.
Trustee Denise Brun moved to approve a building-use request from the Roseville Wrestling Club for youth wrestling in the Roseville High School wrestling room from September 2025 through April 2026; Trustee Gina Aiuto supported the motion and the board approved the request unanimously.
The Business Office presented the General Fund warrant list for the month ending Aug. 31, 2025, and Treasurer Matthew McCartney moved approval. Trustee Michelle Williams-Ward seconded; a roll-call vote recorded all seven members as Aye and the board approved payment of the warrants.
There were no public comments during the two public-hearing opportunities provided on the agenda. In closing remarks, Superintendent Mark Blaszkowski noted a bond meeting being held via Zoom and said a population-study discussion is scheduled for the next board meeting. Vice President Switanowski raised a question about state budget allocations for local road funds.
The board announced upcoming regular and special meetings in September and October and adjourned at 7:32 p.m. on a motion by Secretary Joseph D. DeFelice supported by Trustee Denise Brun.
