The Pleasant Grove City Council on June 15 authorized the city’s senior program to solicit sponsorships for a Christmas gala scheduled for Dec. 18.
Mayor explained Jefferson County requires an average of 25 participants for an official senior program classification, which could open additional resources. She moved to give the senior program authority to seek sponsorships; Councillor Brown seconded the motion and the council approved it by voice vote.
The mayor emphasized that sponsorship proceeds (and any funds collected) will be routed to the City of Pleasant Grove and managed in city accounts — not via a separate nonprofit or outside account. She said a formal budget from the senior program will be returned to council for review once sponsorships are solicited and an event budget is prepared.
Council did not allocate direct city funds at the June 15 meeting; minutes show authorization only to solicit sponsors and return with a budget proposal for formal authorization.
