Romeo Community Schools board elects officers and approves routine administrative resolutions

The Romeo Community Schools Board of Education at Powell 9th Grade Academy on Jan. 6 elected Rachel Eichhorst as board president, Anita Banach as vice president, Katherine Rice as secretary and Mike Antoine as treasurer and approved several administrative resolutions that set the district's officers, banking and meeting procedures for 2025.
The organizational meeting, called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Anita Banach, approved the meeting agenda by voice vote. The board then passed a consent agenda including minutes from the Dec. 9, 2024 regular meeting; the consent motion carried with four ayes, zero nays and three abstentions (Boyer, Bowman, Cichocki).
Under Resolution No. 1, Mike Antoine moved to nominate Rachel Eichhorst as president, with Katherine Rice supporting; the motion carried 7–0. The board subsequently approved Resolution Nos. 2 and 3, designating the district depository and approving authorized district signers, and Resolution No. 4 setting the day, place and time for regular meetings. Resolution No. 5 named the Electronic Transfer Officer (ETO) and Resolution No. 6 appointed the administrator responsible for posting public meetings; each passed unanimously. Resolution No. 7 approved the district's legal representation and resources; during that discussion Superintendent Dr. Robinson described which law firms handle specific matters and explained that some staff have direct access to counsel while others must route requests through the superintendent's office.
In his superintendent's report, Dr. Robinson said renovations to the administration building's third floor were completed and staff have moved to that floor. He said work on the second floor is expected to take roughly two to two and a half months, after which renovations will begin on the first floor.
Dr. Robinson also suggested consolidating the previously scheduled two public‑comment opportunities into a single public comment period. New board member Allyson Bowman thanked supporters and "looks forward to serving the community, the students and our district," and other members noted the positive campaign experience. The meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m. after a unanimous voice vote.
