Rockwood approves $975 evaluation for new police chief; city to launch online payments April 1 and lists upcoming events

The Rockwood City Council voted March 18 to pay the full psychological evaluation fee of $975 for Police Chief Nicolas Hill to cover the difference from the originally authorized amount.
Council Member Robertson moved and Council Member Mercure seconded the motion (M-066-26); the motion passed with unanimous affirmation. Earlier in the meeting the council had sworn in Nicolas Hill as the new police chief.
City Administrator Trush told the council that the city’s BS&A online payments will go live April 1, 2026; she said the implementation will be publicized on the city website, social media, the City Hall window, and via a message on the next water bill. Council Member Mercure suggested also posting the notice on the Community Center sign.
The council also recorded several upcoming community events: an Easter Egg hunt scheduled for March 28, 2026 (with a makeup day of April 4 if canceled by weather), the Rockwood Area Historical Society spring tea on April 26, 2026, and a Memorial Day parade on May 25, 2026 at 10 a.m.
Next steps: Finance will process the psychological-test payment and staff will publish BS&A payment instructions and event notices as described by the administrator.
