Board approves amended supplemental salary schedule, adds summer pay for coaches; new personnel introduced

The Escambia County School Board approved an amended supplemental salary schedule for 2024–25 that the board said contains two main changes: a $5,000 supplement for employees at district-identified hard-to-staff schools for three years, and clarified language on an athletic "summer supplement" so that newly hired coaches are paid for summer work rather than having to wait a year to receive the supplement.
Mr. Ford explained the changes to the athletic supplement and how the summer payment would be calculated: take the base pay divided by nine months and multiply that monthly amount by three to produce pay for June, July and August. He said the language change would ensure new coaches who work over the summer receive the additional pay that reflects their extra duties.
By motion and voice vote the board approved the amended supplemental salary schedule "as presented." The board also approved personnel recommendations (items added as C1 and C2 were noted as recent hires). During the meeting the chair introduced new personnel administrator Sheree Davis, who was described as having served previously as an ELA specialist, assistant principal and elementary supervisor. The chair also announced incoming principals Miss Andrews (WSN Elementary) and Miss Hendricks (Fington Elementary), both set to start July 1 and to participate in summer learning preparations.
