Pleasant Hill approves first reading to vacate NE 52nd Court right-of-way

The Pleasant Hill City Council opened and closed a public hearing on March 24 and approved the first reading of Ordinance #968 to vacate the NE 52nd Court right-of-way.
Senior Planner Brian Dunkelberger told the Council the city received a request from Elder Corporation to vacate and dispose of the right-of-way; because the parcel is not large enough to be buildable alone, disposition would be limited to transfer to adjacent owners. Both adjacent owners had been notified in advance and the Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval at its March 2, 2026 meeting. Dunkelberger noted that two public hearings are required in the process and that a subsequent hearing will consider property disposal and a purchase agreement.
The Council approved the first reading by a unanimous vote; no public testimony opposed the request at this hearing.
