The Rothbury Village Council on Jan. 21 approved adding a separate General Fund line for $1,500 in State of Michigan funding for continuing education and police training (MCOLES).
Treasurer Deb Murphy told the council the $1,500 would be used for police continuing education and training and that the Village must add a distinct revenue and expenditure line in the 2024-2025 General Fund to account for the funds. Councilmember Dylan Zuniga moved to add the revenue and expenditures for MCOLES training to the budget; Denise Kurdziel seconded the motion and it passed 5-0 with two members absent.
Police Chief Ethan Walker presented the monthly police report and said the Police Committee met Jan. 16; Chief Walker said he is obtaining pricing on requested items for the council to review at the next meeting for budgeting.
Other consent and administrative items recorded in the minutes included motions to pay the bills (approved 5-0) and to allow a subscription for labor-law posters (approved 5-0). The minutes record unanimous approval on those items and do not list dissenting views or public comment.
