The Rothbury Village Council on Jan. 21 approved an increase in rental fees for the community center and directed staff to gather quotes to replace the center's ceiling.
Treasurer and RCC director Deb Murphy told the council the community center ceiling will need to be replaced; the council instructed staff to obtain renovation estimates. Murphy also asked the council to consider raising rental fees, saying current rates had not changed in some time.
Councilmember Mike Harris moved to increase the community center rental fee from $650 to $800 per event while maintaining the $200 security deposit, and to raise the members room fee from $75 to $100 (deposit $50 unchanged). Denise Kurdziel seconded the motion, which passed 5-0 with two absent.
Other RCC-related items recorded in the minutes included approval for a subscription to labor-law posters to keep postings current; Recreation Director/Clerk Brandy Williams requested the subscription and the council approved it by motion (5-0, two absent). The minutes also record that Prein and Newhof worked on a DNR grant matter relevant to the recreation department and that the CD set aside for a grant match will roll for six months.
The minutes do not list a timeline for the ceiling replacement, the amount estimated for repairs, or whether the fee change takes effect immediately.
