At its May 12 meeting, the Aliceville City Council issued a proclamation recognizing National Skilled Nursing Care Week (May 11–17, 2026) and accepted a related proclamation honoring Aliceville Manor Nursing Home and its staff.
"Aliceville Manor Nursing Home is recognizing Skilled Care Nursing Week ... it provides opportunities for us to show heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinary commitment," the chair said when introducing the proclamation. Councilwoman Jones moved to accept the proclamation and Councilwoman Pruitt seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
Council also announced it will recognize Peaches Daycare next meeting for more than 30 years of service; that item was tabled to allow attendance.
During departmental reports, the police representative (addressed as Jeff) warned residents about ongoing phone scams that spoof bank numbers and impersonate law enforcement regarding supposed warrants. He said community members have lost about $1,600–$2,000 to such scams and advised residents: do not provide information over the phone and verify with banks in person.
Public comment included a resident who described three separate vandalism incidents to their property, urged neighbors to communicate and to call 911 for emergencies, and thanked the street department for recent pickup service. The resident also urged turnout for the May 19 vote and noted community discussions about ambulance service funding tied to an annual $10 tag item; one councilmember recounted a recent personal ambulance call and urged supporting the service.
The council closed the meeting after a motion to adjourn.
