The Aliceville City Council voted on May 12 to rename the street in front of the National Guard Armory in honor of Army Staff Sergeant Tommy S. Little.
Council said the Zoning and Planning Board submitted the application and recommended approval. Family members of Staff Sergeant Little attended the meeting; a person identified in the transcript as Mr. Jackson thanked the council for the recognition. Council members expressed personal remembrance and support for the memorial.
"We do have some of the family ... we're glad to see Jack Little here," the chair said when introducing the item. The council took a motion to approve the renaming and recorded the motion as passing unanimously.
The transcript includes inconsistent references to Staff Sergeant Little's name and the year of his death (lines reference 2000 and 2005 in different places). The council recorded approval by voice vote; the city will proceed with signage and a formal dedication to be coordinated with the family.
