Rothbury council approves bills, contributes $184.80 to hazardous-waste program; auditors to present results in September

The Rothbury Village Council on July 16 approved payment of the village's bills and voted to contribute $184.80 to the Household Hazardous Waste Program.
Autum Drake moved to pay the bills and Mike Harris seconded; council recorded 7 ayes and 0 nays. Later, Dylan Zuniga moved, with support from Mike Harris, to pay $184.80 as the village's contribution to the Household Hazardous Waste Program; that motion also passed 7 ayes and 0 nays.
Treasurer Deb Murphy delivered the monthly treasurer's report and said Brickley Delong completed the annual audit last Thursday. Murphy said representatives from the auditing firm plan to present the audit results at the council's September meeting.
Murphy also noted the village office in Bath, Michigan, is closing after VC3's acquisition and the village is considering moving its BS&A software to a cloud-hosted service; she presented this as a potential administrative change rather than a completed action.
The minutes further show President Vern Talmadge spoke with the auditors about forming a Village Foundation to benefit residents; Treasurer Murphy cautioned the council to be mindful of funds already committed. The minutes do not include a formal plan or vote to create a foundation.
The council adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
