Aliceville council approves parade permits and $5,000 property-management software

The Aliceville City Council on Feb. 24 approved several routine items, including parade permits, a special-event license and a city subscription to property-management software intended to digitize records and track ordinance violations.

The council voted to approve a parade permit for a Multiple Sclerosis walk scheduled for March 21 at 10 a.m., and later amended a separate permit to change a Team 10 fundraiser from a 5K to a 10K on March 14 with a revised route. Council also granted a seven-day special-event license for a National Wild Turkey Foundation event set for March 6, contingent on law-enforcement presence.

Council members approved purchasing a property-management package referred to in the meeting as "I works" at an approximate cost of $5,000 for the first year, to be paid from capital funds. The mayor described the software as a tool to digitize files, track city property and document ordinance violations; the motion carried by voice vote.

The council adopted a resolution recognizing Black History Month in February 2026 and announced a city contest for posters and videos with prizes of $150 and $100 in each category. The council noted the 2025 streetscape improvement on 3rd Avenue Northeast is out for bid and directed interested contractors to the local paper and city hall for details.

All votes on these agenda items were taken by voice; no roll-call tallies were provided during the meeting. The council concluded these items and moved on to other business and reports.
