Escambia County schools report February finances: $25.7M revenue, $26.4M expenditures

At a public meeting, finance staff presented the Escambia County School District’s February 2025 financial statement, reporting year-to-date revenue of $25.7 million and total expenditures of about $26.4 million.
“At the end of February $25.7 million of revenue has been received. Total expenditures overall for the district about 26.4 million there,” said Mr. Ford while presenting the standard state financial reports. He told the board that the district is roughly $651,000 in expenditures over revenues for the year so far and that carryover grant funds from prior years must be spent by the end of the fiscal year, which affects the reported position.
Mr. Ford highlighted that the unreserved general fund balance represents about 5.2 months of operating reserve and that a two-year trend shows the fund balance is slightly up compared with prior years. He said some planned expenditures will reduce the fund balance but that the overall outlook is stable.
The board received the report as presented, subject to audit. Members asked no substantive follow-up questions during the presentation; the board moved on to consent and action items following the finance report.
