Escambia County school board approves multiple contracts, curriculum purchases and facility upgrades

The Escambia County School Board approved a slate of contracts, curriculum purchases and facility and technology upgrades in a single business meeting.

The board approved an i‑Ready contract with Curriculum Associates for K–5 and sixth grade at Hooksburg (amount in the packet transcribed as “163,28”; amount unclear in the record) and a purchase of library materials from Perma-Bound for AC Moore Primary School for $55,998.89. It also approved a contract with ATOG Incorporated for mobile app and web development for $28,268.75 and a contract with IL Learning for elementary instructional technology services for $37,500.

Facility and equipment approvals included repair of the Escambia County High School auditorium audio system ($7,850) and purchase of speakers, microphones and a subwoofer ($8,145); a $23,000 fire alarm purchase for the Flowington Middle School wing; and a $164,290.50 change order for storm doors at WS Neil High School. The board approved a contract for Do the Math consumables with Heman (packet amount transcribed with garbled digits) and purchase of a phonics curriculum from the 95% Group for summer learning (amount unclear in the transcription; funding described as a mix of local and state assessment funds).

All items were presented in the board packet and passed by voice vote or general consent. The board also approved renewal of the Cognia accreditation membership for $16,800 and several personnel and position changes — including a guidance and support services supervisor and a network administrator — intended to strengthen attendance interventions, HR certification and network support.
