Select Board supportive as CPC advances Community Preservation Act warrant articles, YHC hears

The commission heard that the Community Preservation Committee presented CPA warrant articles to the Select Board, which supported the slate; a CPC public hearing was sparsely attended and the CPA articles will be voted individually at Town Meeting toward the end of the session.
Commissioner David Geanacopoulos updated the Yarmouth Historical Commission April 9 on Community Preservation Committee activity related to CPA warrant articles.
Geanacopoulos said CPC presented the warrant articles to the Select Board and that the board expressed support for the projects. He said a CPC public hearing earlier in the week had light public attendance but that several project sponsors—Historic Society of Old Yarmouth (HSOY), the housing trust and Friends of Bass River—were present and provided input. He noted that the CPA warrant articles will be voted on separately at Town Meeting, near the end of the session.
The commission discussed preservation restrictions as a related procedural matter: Vice Chair Bob Kelley said he spoke with Henry Kelley of the Dennis Historical Commission about how the DHC places preservation restrictions on properties when CPA funds are used, and noted state regulations and the Secretary of the Interior's preservation restrictions must be followed. The commission stated it does not itself impose preservation restrictions.
