Manchester City Council approves temporary parking, UV repairs and St. Mary Parish fish fry route

The Manchester City Council approved a package of routine items at its Jan. 26, 2026, regular meeting, including temporary street parking for a school event, repairs to the citys ultraviolet (UV) water-treatment system and a seasonal traffic route for St. Mary Parish's fish fry.
Mayor Patricia K. Vailliencourt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the council completed roll call; Councilmember Chartrand was recorded absent. The council approved the Jan. 12, 2026, meeting minutes on a motion by Mahony, seconded by Dresch; Councilmember LaRocque recorded an abstention on that vote.
The council then voted to approve the agenda. Under new business, members approved a request to allow parking on one side of Dutch Drive for a school wrestling event scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; the motion was moved by Dresch and seconded by Woods and carried with all present voting yes.
Separately, the council authorized repairs to the citys UV system with Glasco in the amount of $7,304.75 after a motion by Dresch and a second by Mahony. The council also approved St. Mary Parish's annual fish fry drive-through route on Main Street onto Macomb Street and back to Madison Street for Fridays from Feb. 20 through Mar. 17, 2026; that motion was moved by Mahony and seconded by Dresch and carried with all present voting aye.
The council approved the Accounts Payable Report dated Jan. 27, 2026, totaling $137,499.20 on a motion by Dresch, seconded by LaRocque. The December 2025 Treasurer's Report was acknowledged. J. Cratsenburg of WCSO reviewed the December sheriff's report, and Manager Sessions provided updates on city operations; no formal actions were taken on those reports.
The meeting adjourned at 8:47 p.m., according to the minutes signed by Mayor Patricia K. Vailliencourt and City Clerk Brittany Kuhnle.
