Geneva district to roll out asset‑management and phone-based work‑order system

District administrators reported that the new Brightley asset-management and work-order system has been populated with buses and other district assets and that the implementation will be phased to avoid overwhelming staff.

According to presenters, the initial rollout will begin with the bus department and a small group of teachers to work out kinks before a district-wide launch. The system supports single sign-on through Google and allows field staff to submit work orders and photos from phones so requests flow directly to the appropriate approver and then on to the assigned worker; administrators said completed work orders will be matched to purchase orders and closed in the system.

Superintendent (speaking during the report) described the system as feature-rich but emphasized a cautious rollout: "this thing can do so much, but we don't want to overwhelm our main thing right now is a work order system that a work order is put in and it goes to the proper approval and then everything is documented like it should be," the superintendent said. Staff said the plan is to scale from buses to teachers and then to all school buildings, aiming for a full go by the end of the year if testing proceeds smoothly.

Board members asked about inventory capabilities and were told the system can maintain asset records and that district personnel have already entered buses and many assets into the software. No formal board action was taken during the report; administrators said they will bring additional implementation details to the board as the pilot proceeds.
