City Administrator Kelly Hayworth described a proposed purchase of the property east of Old Town Hall on 5th Street to increase parking and provide pedestrian and trail connections. Hayworth said the lot will provide a minimum of 14 parking spaces, include landscaping on the west side of the lot, and serve as a trailhead for the Dvorsky Trail with connections north to the Clear Creek Trail and south along the trail.
Hayworth said the acquisition addresses a shortage of street parking that has made it difficult to hold events at Old Town Hall and the nearby 1876 Schoolhouse. Councilmember Hai Huynh asked about crossing options; Hayworth said staff will evaluate crosswalk placement once the parcel is acquired and road improvements are complete.
The council approved Resolution No. 2026-82 authorizing the Purchase Agreement for 409 5th Street; the purchase was described as not to exceed $300,000.
