Harlingen Village residents press committee to include sewer connections as township approves sewer appropriation

Newman said Harlingen Village has been included in the Pike Brook wastewater management plan for more than a decade but remains on septic while infrastructure grows around it. She asked the committee to "include it" in the current appropriation or at least set aside funds (she suggested $60,000) for consulting and engineering needed to study an extension.
Township staff and officials said developments in the area are running sewer lines through public works that will allow additional connections and offered to follow up with neighborhood representatives. Officials invited Newman and neighbors to leave contact information so staff can schedule a neighborhood conversation with the mayor, administrator and township engineer.
The committee moved and adopted Ordinance 26-1777 by roll call after the public hearing; staff committed to follow up with the Harlingen Village group to clarify whether the current appropriation includes an extension or whether a separate study will be required.
