Dennis Mannone, Director of Park and Recreation, presented a CPC funding request seeking $122,000 for engineering consulting to convert the underutilized Davis Field into two new natural‑grass multipurpose fields.
Mannone said the redesign aims to address poor drainage and create space suitable for 11v11 soccer, lacrosse and baseball practice; he cited a future construction cost estimate of approximately $1.5 million. He described project phases, the need for clear oversight and inclusion of the field’s historical purchase information in the CPC materials. Commissioner Granger Atkenson moved that the Commission support the Davis Field design CPC application, Laurie Eliason seconded, and the motion passed 4–0.
Next steps: staff will include the project history in CPC materials and advance the design request through the CPC process; construction funding would be a subsequent step if design proceeds.
