Geneva Lake Conservancy reviews volunteer work, education events and new executive director to Park Committee

Representatives of the Geneva Lake Conservancy (GLC) presented their annual report to the Walworth County Park Committee on June 15, highlighting last year’s MOU events and plans for 2026.
GLC staff described Arbor Day plantings at Price Park, an Earth Day collaboration at White River Park that added about 20 dogwoods and a bur oak, and volunteer workdays that prepared the community garden and completed trail mapping for Price Park. "We worked with three different schools — about 50 or so kids came — and we began with planting dogwood around the dog park," a GLC presenter said, describing the educational and outreach goals.
The conservancy introduced its new executive director, Ashley Hatley Caruso, who started May 11. GLC said Caruso brings nonprofit leadership experience and fundraising background and is helping the organization expand programming and partnerships under the existing MOU with the county.
GLC outlined several upcoming public programs tied to the county parks: a raptor presentation scheduled for July 31 and an invasive‑species removal volunteer day on Oct. 16, both at White River Park. Staff encouraged committee members to attend and help promote volunteer participation.
The presentation emphasized education and workforce pipeline goals. GLC said it worked with the Walworth County Economic Development Alliance (CETA) and other partners on a career event that engaged environmental‑career presenters and students in round‑table sessions.
Committee members thanked GLC for the partnership and staff said they look forward to continued collaboration under the MOU. No formal committee action was required or taken on the presentation.
