Staff and commissioners discussed practical effects on a nearby historic residential area (Sonoma Trail/neighboring streets) and how each alternative would create different access patterns for local residents and for drivers accessing the new commercial driveways. Commissioners requested clarity about cost responsibility and asked whether the developer, the Ennis Economic Development Corporation or the city would construct and fund the realignment, noting construction on new street connections can require right-of-way, grading, curb and signal work beyond a single developer driveway.
Staff said they would verify cost expectations and any prior discussions and report back. No alignment decision was made at the workshop; commissioners emphasized the need to avoid creating an unsafe skewed intersection as traffic increases in the corridor.
