Winston County Board approves March expenditures, OKs $700,000 Lynn facility project and summer feeding plans

The board approved the sale of a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 HD to Alabama schools for $45,000 and accepted participation in the summer feeding program running May 28–July 30, 2026. The board also accepted a summer-feeding supplemental grocery bid in partnership with the West Alabama CNP Consortium and approved renewal of Child Nutrition Program (CNP) bids for the 2026–27 school year; each item was moved, seconded and approved with no recorded dissent.
Mr. Scott asked the board to proceed with the Lynn Multipurpose Facility Project using a self-performed general contractor approach with a total project budget of $700,000. The motion passed after a second; Mr. Scott said he accepted the self-performed approach because "nobody can do it any quicker," and the board approved the project.
On personnel matters, the board approved the retirement of Tanya Riddle, teacher at Addison High School, effective June 1, 2026, and approved the recommendation of Tyler Bond as a volunteer coach at Lynn High School. Those actions were carried by voice/hand vote.
